Upton Lakes, set in acres of beautiful unspoilt countryside
Upton Farm, formerly a dairy farm, it has now been developed into organic farmland. Nestled amidst this rolling farmland is Upton Lakes. Upton Lake is over 120 years old and was originally created as a reservoir to provide the farm’s water supply. In the early 1900’s it was also used by Cullompton residents for town picnics and as a boating lake. Over the years this lake, unfortunately, became unused and overgrown, however, in the 1990’s Upton Lake was restored to its former glory and open it up to the general public for day ticket fishing. In 2001 a second lake was created called Well Mead, this lake was surrounded with caravan accommodation for fishing holidays. The Lakes became so popular, we decided to introduce lodges surrounding Upton Lake as alternative accommodation to caravans that could be enjoyed all year round! Our third lake Monks Wood was introduced in 2011 along with more luxury lodges.
The lakes have established reed beds, shrubs and plants that attract a broad range of wildlife, in turn helping to sustain the bream, carp, and perch that breed naturally here. The healthy fish stock and tranquil setting of Upton Lakes have been a favourite for coarse anglers for more than 20 years. Holiday accommodation seemed the most natural step for us to take in this ever-evolving business. In collaboration with one of the UK’s leading tour operators Hoseasons, we welcome others to stay with us at Upton Lakes and enjoy the natural wildlife, peace, and tranquility that this rural retreat offers. The stewardship of our land and the environment will always remain our single most vested responsibility, and we continue to develop and maintain habitats that attract a wide range of wildlife to Upton. We are proud of our rural heritage and welcome all to share it with us.
